Peripheral developer Datel aims to end region-lock on the Nintendo Wii with the company's latest mod product, the Wii Freeloader.
The Wii Freeloader is a software package that modifies one's console. By simply inserting a Freeloader disc, users can play both Wii and GameCube titles from any region on their Wii system. This allows, among other things, PAL gamers to import and play software like the upcoming Super Smash Bros. Brawl months ahead of European release.
According to a Kotaku report, representatives from Datel have confirmed that the Wii Freeloader will not be affected by the Wii's firmware updates.
Readers should note that Datel's Wii Freeloader is completely unofficial (that is, in no way connected to Nintendo). The Wii Freeloader is available for approximately 20 USD from Codejunkies.
